"I will never forget meeting Mrs Janet for the first time After she came highly recommended from one of the Miss TN Volunteer sponsors. (I had NO idea what I’d be getting myself into when it came to my pageant journey, but thank goodness she helped me understand!!) She helped me learn how to be my authentic self and to set goals that were realistic for where I was at during that time in my life and also working with me while being a full-time college student and working part-time jobs throughout college and even into graduate school throughout my pageant career, Janet helped me learn how to become the best version of myself to set lofty goals with realistic check-ins,

During the five years I competed to become Miss Tennessee, I always knew I could rely on her for level headed advice on what was best to do for me. Where to begin…I met Ms. Janet in 2017 when I was only 12 years old – now more than 7 years ago! I knew immediately that there was a connection between us that would carry a lifetime! She is so much more than a coach --- she’s a mentor, a mother (at times), a friend, a tutor, a motivator, a fashionista (consultant for wardrobe) and so, so much more! Ms. Janet would literally give her girls the shirt off her back. She’s the first to stand up when something isn’t right, and she has taught me so much about believing in myself and my abilities. Today, I am studying at UT Knoxville to become a biomedical engineer because of her encouragement and support. The classes aren’t easy, but Ms. Janet taught me to never, ever give up on my dreams!! She taught me that being the best version of me starts with me! She helped me grow in ways that I never even imagined! In 2020, when the entire world shut down for the pandemic, Ms. Janet was the first to step up and say we can help! And, help she did! It was her vision that led to the creation of the Tennessee Sewing Queens that went on to connect more than 200 titleholders (State Pageant Queens) across Tennessee and later we would make thousands of masks to distribute all across the U.S. Teaching beauty queens to sew is no small feat either! But, we did it…together! And, later that year at Royal International Miss, the Tennessee team brought home numerous titles and scholarships! The one that I am most proud of is the “Pay It Forward” scholarship that was awarded
because of an essay that I wrote asking the organization to honor a special student at Franklin Brentwood Arts Academy (FBAA) due to the economic hardships that had hit our country that year. Many students were forced to quit voice classes because of the economic hardships. The scholarship was to be awarded to a student who loved music but was no longer financially able to participate in voice classes at FBAA. The judges were so moved, they gave an additional scholarship and Royal International Miss has now incorporated this into their standing list of scholarships! None of this would have been possible without the encouragement and support of Ms. Janet. So…here goes…if you are looking for average…Ms. Janet is not your coach…if you are looking for
extraordinary…she’s got that in spades! I, for one, am so excited to see what this next chapter brings, and I can’t wait to see how many more young women’s lives she touches in so many special ways! I know it is going to be an amazing journey! I wish you only the best this life has to offer, Miss Janet, and I will be eternally grateful for all of your unconditional love and support!
